COPPA Compliant

KidChef fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. We require verified parental consent before creating kid profiles and collect only the minimum data necessary.

Parental Controls

Parents have full control over kid profiles, permissions, and what content kids can access. Exit kid mode requires a PIN that only parents know.

No Ads, Ever

We will never show advertisements to children. KidChef is funded by optional subscriptions from parents, not by advertising to kids.

No Chat or Social Features

There are no chat, messaging, or social networking features in KidChef. Kids cannot communicate with strangers or share personal information.

Equipment Permissions

Parents can set which kitchen equipment each child is allowed to use. Control access to stoves, ovens, knives, and other tools on a per-child basis.

Safety Warnings

Recipes include clear safety warnings at appropriate steps. Hot surfaces, sharp tools, and potential hazards are highlighted.

Allergen Detection

KidChef automatically detects common allergens in recipes and warns if a recipe contains something on your child's allergy list.

Steps that require adult supervision are clearly marked so kids know when to ask for help.

Our COPPA Commitment

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires that we obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13. Here's what that means for KidChef:

  • Parents must verify their identity before creating kid profiles
  • We only collect what's necessary: name, age, and cooking preferences
  • Parents can review, edit, or delete their child's data at any time
  • We never sell or share children's data with third parties
  • Parents can withdraw consent and delete all data at any time
